The S&P 500 Index preliminarily closed up 0.8%, with the technology sector rising 2.2%, the telecommunications sector up 1.5%, the consumer discretionary sector up 1.1%, while the healthcare sector fell 2.8%.
The Nasdaq 100 Index preliminarily closed up 1.2%, with constituent stock IDEXX rising 9.2%, CEG and Microsoft rising over 7%, Meta up 4.4%, Amazon up 3.1%, while Amgen, Gilead Sciences, Coherent, GE HealthCare, and Grail fell by up to 5.7%, and Qualcomm fell 8.8%.
Nvidia rose 2.4%, leading the Dow components along with Microsoft and Amazon, while Merck, Amgen, and UnitedHealth fell by up to 2.7%
