On May 26, United Airlines flight UA889 from Beijing to San Francisco was reported to have "engine flames" and made an emergency stop. In response, on the 27th, United Airlines' official customer service stated to reporters, "Flight UA889 was indeed grounded due to a mechanical failure, and the aircraft requires further maintenance. Passengers have been rebooked on flights for other dates. United Airlines will conduct repairs and inspections on the aircraft in accordance with relevant requirements from the FAA."
