According to reports, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen are expected to negotiate on U.S. auto tariffs
Germany's Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday that BMW Group, Daimler, and Volkswagen are negotiating with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to seek an exemption from the 25% tariff imposed by President Trump on foreign car imports.
BMW Chairman Oliver Zipse stated that he hopes the U.S. tariffs will be reduced in July this year.
According to reports, the U.S. side hopes that BMW will establish a large factory in Spartanburg, South Carolina, as part of a potential future tariff deal. Previously, the U.S. reached a similar trade agreement with the UK, reducing car tariffs to 10%
