The United States once again demands allies to increase military spending, this time targeting Australia
On June 1st local time, according to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Richard Marles in Singapore, where they discussed key priorities of the U.S.-Australia alliance. According to the statement, Austin stated during the meeting that Australia should increase its defense spending to 3.5% of its gross domestic product as soon as possible
