On June 5th, media reports cited informed sources revealing that Apple has handed over its iPhone and MacBook device repair business in the Indian market to Tata Group.
The report stated that Tata Group will take over this business from ICT Service Management Solutions and will carry out these after-sales repair services at its iPhone assembly park located in Karnataka.
Currently, this business handover is in progress. Although basic repairs can still be conducted at Apple's official service centers across India, more complex issues will now be sent to Tata's factories for handling.
Previously, Trump repeatedly threatened Apple CEO Tim Cook, hoping that iPhones &#34;sold in the U.S. will be made and produced in the U.S.,&#34; rather than in India or elsewhere.
<h2>Ignoring Trump's warnings, the Apple-Tata partnership may create a new market for &#34;refurbished phones&#34;</h2>
Counterpoint Research estimates that last year, iPhone sales in India reached approximately 11 million units, giving Apple a market share of 7%, a significant leap from just 1% in 2020.
With the surge in iPhone sales, the repair market may see a boom in India. Prabhu Ram, Vice President of Cybermedia Research, stated:

India is emerging as a new favorite destination for iPhone exports. Cook previously stated that most of the iPhones sold in the U.S. during the June quarter will be produced by factories in India.
Tata Group has quickly become one of Apple's key suppliers, currently assembling iPhones for local and overseas markets in three factories in southern India, one of which also produces some iPhone components
