"European Stocks" Focus on Euro-American Economic Data, Pan-European Stoxx 600 Index Slightly Rises
Digesting the economic data from Europe and the United States, European stock markets showed little change on Friday, with the pan-European Stoxx 600 index recently up 0.3%. Switzerland plans to introduce stricter new banking capital rules, requiring UBS to increase its core capital by $26 billion, and the bank's stock price rose by as much as 6%.
The UK FTSE 100 index rose by 22 points or 0.3%, closing at 8,833 points.
The German DAX index fell by 28 points or 0.1%, closing at 24,295 points.
The French CAC 40 index rose by 11 points or 0.2%, closing at 7,802 points
