TradingKey - The WWDC 2025, which opens on June 9th Eastern Time, may become Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) most disappointing developer conference in recent years.
The latest reports indicate that the rollout of Apple's core AI feature &#34;Apple Intelligence&#34; has been delayed. Apple has encountered technical challenges while upgrading Siri to integrate advanced large language models (LLM).
Former employees have revealed that Apple's existing architecture struggles to support multi-turn conversations and cross-application operations, resulting in numerous bugs during the Siri upgrade integration process—issues that competitors like OpenAI and Google, who built generative AI voice assistants from scratch, have not faced.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has publicly acknowledged that Siri's technology has not met the company's standards and that development progress has exceeded expectations. A former senior Apple executive disclosed that the leadership team is somewhat fragmented, leading to a lack of cohesion in AI strategy, and that senior executives were initially reluctant to allocate sufficient budget for technological development, exacerbating the situation.
In contrast, Google showcased more powerful models, new AI search features, launched a new AI subscription service, and introduced a feature to generate realistic videos with simple prompts at its developer conference last month.
This year's WWDC seems to focus more on operating system updates rather than technological breakthroughs. Among the new designs and features of Apple's operating systems, the most notable is that all operating systems, including CarPlay, will adopt a brand new interface. JP Morgan analysts pointed out that investors are more eager for Apple to deliver on last year's promised AI integration plans rather than relying on packaging existing features to create hype.
Affected by the stalled development of AI and other factors, Apple's stock performance has been poor. Since 2025, Apple's stock price has fallen by a cumulative 18%, ranking last among tech giants
