Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: From January to April, the total lithium battery production in the country exceeded 473 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 68%

On June 13, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology disclosed the operational status of the national lithium-ion battery industry from January to April 2025. From January to April, China's lithium-ion battery (hereinafter referred to as "lithium battery") industry continued its growth trend. According to the enterprise information from the lithium battery industry standard announcement and estimates from industry associations, the total production of lithium batteries nationwide exceeded 473 GWh from January to April, a year-on-year increase of 68%. In the battery segment, the production of energy storage lithium batteries exceeded 110 GWh, while the installation volume of power-type lithium batteries for new energy vehicles was approximately 184 GWh. The total export value of lithium batteries nationwide reached 155.4 billion yuan from January to April, a year-on-year increase of 25%. In the first-stage materials segment, the production of cathode materials, anode materials, separators, and electrolytes from January to April was approximately 1.15 million tons, 760,000 tons, 8 billion square meters, and 470,000 tons, respectively, with all year-on-year increases exceeding 40%. In the second-stage materials segment, the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate was 270,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 60%, while the production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide was 90,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14%. The average prices of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide (micro-powder grade) from January to April were 74,000 yuan/ton and 76,000 yuan/ton, respectively.
