Recently, the safety issues of power banks have been attracting market attention.
The cause is that several universities in Beijing recently reminded students to refrain from using the Roma power bank, which has explosion risks. Subsequently, Roma and Anker Innovations (300866.SZ) announced the proactive recall of certain batches of power banks.
Multiple market reports indicate that the safety issues of power banks are related to the battery cell supplier Amperes (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as &#34;Amperes&#34;).
The official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation shows that Amperes' products' 3C certifications have been suspended or revoked.
This means that all products under Amperes that require 3C certification can no longer be sold.
According to industry media reports from the hardware department of the criticism department, it may be because Amperes outsourced two batches of battery cells to a certain factory in Jiangxi for production.
However, the outsourcing factory illegally replaced the raw materials for the separator between the battery's cathode and anode, leading to a risk of failure in the battery's positive and negative electrode separators, ultimately causing the mobile power supply to explode.
Anker Innovations acknowledged in a statement that there were issues with some battery cell materials.
&#34;Due to our recent discovery of issues with the batch of industry-standard battery cells used in some basic mobile power products, a very small number of products may have insulation failure of the separator during long-term use, posing safety risks that could lead to overheating or even combustion,&#34; Anker Innovations stated.
Due to the influence of Amperes, some of Anker Innovations' power bank products' 3C certifications have been suspended.
&#34;The reasons for the suspension can be quite complex, as it involves many suppliers in the supply chain,&#34; a source close to Anker Innovations' supply chain told Xinfeng, &#34;3C certification is a process that can change; if any party involved in any link of the entire process has an issue, it could lead to changes in the product's certification.&#34;
In addition, Anker Innovations also stated to Xinfeng that all consumer-facing products have 3C certification.
Moreover, recently, some power banks from Xiaomi and Ugreen Technology also have their 3C certification qualifications suspended.
According to the State Administration for Market Regulation, Xiaomi's &#34;Xiaomi Power Bank 20000mAh 22.5W&#34; and &#34;Xiaomi Magnetic Wireless Power Bank&#34; have had their 3C certifications suspended; Ugreen Technology's &#34;20000mAh Fast Charging Power Bank with Built-in Cable&#34; also had its 3C certification qualification suspended, just about a year after its initial certification date.
