Reuters, June 30 - According to a Bloomberg report on Monday, Apple Inc. (AAPL.O) is considering using artificial intelligence technology from Anthropic or OpenAI to power a new version of Siri, rather than continuing to rely on its in-house models.
The report cites sources saying that Apple has had discussions with both companies, hoping they can provide a version of the language model for Siri that can run on Apple's cloud infrastructure for testing.
Apple and OpenAI did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment. Anthropic declined to comment.
The company stated in March of this year that improvements to the AI for the voice assistant Siri would be delayed until 2026, but did not specify the reasons for the delay
