The world's second-largest shipping company Maersk stated that importers are currently paying an actual tariff of 21% on all container-imported goods entering the United States. In a market update report on Wednesday, Maersk noted that this rate is less than half of the peak average level earlier this year. The company stated, "According to Maersk's container-weighted actual average tariff rate indicator, the current actual average tariff rate that businesses pay for all U.S. imported goods is approximately 21% (based on container loading volume). During the peak period shortly after April 2, the average actual tariff rate was 54%."
