NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra AI chip officially commercialized, CoreWeave and Dell are the first to deploy the GB300 NVL72 system

The global AI computing power competition has reached another important milestone. According to Zhitong Finance APP, NVIDIA's latest generation artificial intelligence chip, Blackwell Ultra AI GPU, has officially entered commercial use. On Thursday local time, cloud computing company CoreWeave (CRWV.US) and Dell Technologies (DELL.US) jointly announced that the first batch of cloud services deploying NVIDIA's GB300 NVL72 AI system is now online and available for customers. Peter Salanki, co-founder and CTO of CoreWeave, stated in a press release: "We are proud to be the first to operate this transformative platform at scale and deliver it to AI innovators, helping them build the next generation of artificial intelligence applications." Founded in 2017, CoreWeave focuses on providing large-scale graphics processing unit (GPU) services through the cloud. With the sharp rise in global demand for AI computing power, CoreWeave has become a key channel for startups and established institutions to access high-performance computing resources. The deployed system uses Dell's liquid-cooled servers, equipped with 72 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs and 36 NVIDIA Grace CPUs based on the Arm architecture. CoreWeave plans to continue expanding the deployment scale of Blackwell Ultra servers within this year to meet the growing AI computing demands of its customers. Arthur Lewis, president of Dell's Infrastructure Solutions Group, pointed out: "Today we take another important step in the development of enterprise AI, becoming the first vendor to deliver the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 system. This also demonstrates Dell's commitment to providing cutting-edge technology across industries, helping customers rapidly expand their innovation capabilities." According to NVIDIA, Blackwell Ultra is an upgraded version following the previous generation Blackwell, with performance improved by 50% compared to its predecessor. The company's CFO, Colette Kress, revealed back in May that Blackwell Ultra GB300 NVL72 had sent test samples to some customers, with formal shipments expected to begin within this quarter. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang has also stated that compared to the "complex upgrade" challenges faced when transitioning from the Hopper architecture to Blackwell (upgrading from 8 GPUs per rack to 72 GPUs), Blackwell Ultra is architecturally very similar to Blackwell, also using a 72 GPU configuration, making the migration process smoother and more seamless. With the continuous expansion of AI infrastructure, Dell has become a leading vendor in the AI computer and server field, with customers including CoreWeave and xAI, owned by Elon Musk, which is accelerating the construction of its own AI model training platform. As of Thursday's close, NVIDIA's stock price rose by 1.33%, reaching a historical high during the session; CoreWeave (CRWV.US) stock price increased by 8.85%, while Dell (DELL.US) rose by 1.41%
