The Zhitong Finance APP noted that Perplexity AI, supported by NVIDIA (NVDA.US), has launched an AI-driven web browser named Comet, as the startup strives to challenge the dominance of Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet (GOOGL.US).
The company stated in a blog post on Wednesday: &#34;Comet transforms the entire browsing session into a single, seamless interaction, simplifying complex workflows into smooth conversations.&#34;
Comet allows users to ask questions, perform tasks, and conduct research within a unified interface. The browser is equipped with the Comet assistant, which can compare products, summarize content, book meetings, and more.
Perplexity stated that Comet can execute complete workflows while maintaining perfect context, turning research into conversation and making analysis feel natural. The company pointed out that users can ask Comet to compare insurance plans or help them fully understand a technology to decide whether to invest.
Perplexity claims that in Comet, user data is only stored in the local browser and is never used for model training.
Starting from July 9, Comet will be available to Perplexity Max subscribers. The company stated that invite-only access will gradually be opened to waitlist users over the summer. New users will also receive a limited number of invitations to share.
Last year, Microsoft (MSFT.US)-backed OpenAI added search engine functionality to ChatGPT and recently opened the service to all users. Google also launched an AI-driven search feature called &#34;AI Overviews,&#34; which debuted last year
