According to estimates on Wednesday evening, the 63-year-old Huang currently has a fortune of $142 billion (an increase of $27.6 billion since January 1), primarily from holding about 3.5% of NVIDIA's shares. The company is currently the highest-valued publicly traded company in the world.
On Wednesday, NVIDIA's market value briefly surpassed $4 trillion, becoming the first company in history to reach this milestone, with its stock price increasing approximately 22% this year. In the ongoing AI arms race in the tech industry, NVIDIA's computer chips have become a strategic resource for several leading AI developers.
Loop Capital analyst Ananda Baruah predicted in a client report on Wednesday that the company's market value peak could approach $6 trillion.
Meanwhile, Buffett's fortune of $144 billion has also increased by $2.19 billion since January 1 (Bloomberg data). His holding company, Berkshire Hathaway, has performed steadily in 2025—with its stock price rising about 5% this year—but considering NVIDIA's growth rate, Huang may soon surpass Buffett on the global billionaire list.
The 94-year-old Buffett has continued to donate his wealth in recent years. On June 27, he announced in a press release that he recently donated $6 billion to five charitable organizations, with total donations exceeding $60 billion over the past twenty years, &#34;far exceeding my total net worth in 2006&#34; (Forbes showed his net worth that year was $46 billion, second only to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates).
However, Huang's wealth surpassing Buffett is not a certainty.
Despite NVIDIA's overall stock price increase this year, it has experienced significant volatility in 2025: On January 27, reports that a Chinese AI lab was using NVIDIA's cut-down chips to train new language models triggered panic among investors, causing the stock price to plummet 17% in a single day, setting a record for the largest single-day market value loss in U.S. public company history (losing nearly $600 billion); on March 3, the stock fell 9% in a single day after Trump announced tariffs on Mexico (home to some of NVIDIA's manufacturing bases).
