It is reported that Amazon will cooperate with Anthropic to launch an AI intelligent agent market next week

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Amazon (AMZN.US) will launch an AI agent marketplace next week through its cloud service (AWS), with AI company Anthropic confirmed as its partner. Two insiders revealed that the product will be officially unveiled at the AWS Summit in New York on July 15. AI agents are now ubiquitous, and all investors in Silicon Valley are optimistic about startups developing such products—despite ongoing disagreements over the precise definition of "AI agents." This somewhat vague term typically refers to computer programs capable of making autonomous decisions and executing tasks (such as interacting with software), powered by AI models. AI giants like OpenAI and Anthropic are promoting it as the next generation of revolutionary technology. However, the distribution of AI agents faces challenges, as most companies currently operate independently. AWS's initiative seems aimed at breaking this deadlock. According to sources, the dedicated AWS AI agent marketplace will allow startups to directly offer AI agent services to AWS customers. Enterprise users can browse, install, and retrieve various AI agents on demand through this unified platform. This could bring significant growth momentum to Anthropic and other partners. Anthropic, which has received investment from Amazon (reportedly undergoing a new round of multi-billion dollar investment from the e-commerce giant), is focusing its AI development efforts in the agent field over the next few years. The company not only develops AI agents independently but also empowers developers to create customized solutions through APIs. The AWS marketplace will help it reach a broader customer base (including existing users of competitors like OpenAI) while attracting more developers to use its API to build an ecosystem, ultimately increasing revenue scale—its annualized revenue had already surpassed $3 billion by the end of May this year. Like all online marketplaces, AWS will take a cut from the revenue generated by agent installations. However, compared to the potential value of opening new revenue channels and customer acquisition capabilities, the commission rate is actually minimal. Insiders revealed that the marketplace adopts a standalone pricing model similar to SaaS, rather than bundled service sales. Amazon is not the first tech giant to enter the agent marketplace. In April this year, Google Cloud launched an AI agent marketplace; a month later, Microsoft introduced the "Agent Store" in Microsoft 365 Copilot; and enterprise software service providers like Salesforce and ServiceNow have also launched their own platforms.
