According to a report by The Information, Tesla (TSLA.US) is currently far behind founder Elon Musk's goal of producing 5,000 humanoid robots, Optimus, this year.

The report cites sources stating that so far this year, the production of Optimus has only reached several hundred units, and that since Musk left the White House, the technical issues related to Optimus's hands have been a focus of his work, noting that achieving the same flexibility and performance as human hands is extremely difficult.

The report states that Tesla has not yet been able to increase the production of Optimus, and there are still some Optimus robots in the Tesla factory that are piled up, missing hands and forearms
