Notably, Tesla recently received approval from Texas licensing and regulatory authorities, obtaining all necessary permits to expand its operations statewide in Texas, and will operate this service as a licensed transportation network company until August 2026.
In June of this year, Tesla officially launched the Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, beginning to pick up and drop off its first passengers. The pilot service was initially limited to a small number of users, and the fleet size deployed was also limited.
Over the past month and a half, Tesla has been continuously expanding the number of users for the Robotaxi trial and the geographical boundaries. In addition to Texas, Tesla has also launched the Robotaxi service in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, but it differs slightly from the service in Texas. In Texas, the safety monitor sits in the passenger seat, while in California, the safety monitor sits in the driver's seat.
Analyst Ronald Jewsikow from investment bank Guggenheim believes that Tesla's opening of the Robotaxi service to the public in Austin and the FSD (Full Self-Driving) upgrade are both positive for Tesla. He stated that Tesla's public opening of the Robotaxi service in Austin is earlier than investors expected, reflecting Tesla's confidence in the service and the positive feedback from previously invited users.
Analysts stated: &#34;We believe that the expanded FSD model is a positive signal for bullish investors focused on the potential transformation of Tesla's fleet into Robotaxis. Opening the Austin Robotaxi service to the public is a key step on the growth path to attract potential key consumers. Although safety drivers will still be retained and no timeline for their removal has been provided, bullish investors have previously been willing to overlook the presence of safety drivers in Tesla vehicles, and we see no reason to change that attitude now.&#34;
