X-energy collaborates with Amazon and others to jointly develop small modular reactors for artificial intelligence
On August 25th local time, X-energy announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Amazon, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP), and Doosan Energy, aimed at accelerating the deployment of the Xe-100 fourth-generation advanced small modular reactor and TRISO-X fuel in the U.S. market to meet the growing electricity demand in data centers and the artificial intelligence sector. KHNP, Doosan, and other Korean industrial partners have agreed to support Amazon and X-energy's plan to deploy over 5 gigawatts of new nuclear energy in the U.S., while also exploring other regions globally
