
Aspen Insurance rose 14% after being acquired by Japan's Sompo for $3.5 billion
Japan's Sompo announced on Wednesday plans to acquire the U.S.-listed Aspen Insurance (AHL.US) for approximately $3.5 billion to expand its investment in overseas assets. Aspen's stock price recently rose nearly 14%.
According to the agreement, the acquisition price is set at $37.5 per share of Aspen. The majority stake in Aspen is held by Apollo Global Management. Sompo plans to integrate Aspen's business with its overseas insurance operations to strengthen its position in key markets such as the Americas and the UK
