In the first half of the year, JINCHUAN INTL produced 27,904 tons of copper from its mining operations, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 2.4%

Jinchuan International announced that in the first half of 2025, its mining business produced 27,904 tons of copper, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 2.4%. The decrease was due to unstable electricity supply in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which led to a decline in electrolytic copper production. The group increased copper concentrate production through flotation plants to maintain overall output. Cobalt production significantly dropped to 71 tons, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 89.6%. Due to low cobalt production and export bans, no cobalt was sold in the first half of 2025
According to the announcement from Jinchuan International (02362), in the first half of 2025, the group's mining business produced 27,904 tons of copper (copper content in electrolytic copper and copper concentrate), a decrease of approximately 2.4% compared to 28,578 tons in the same period of 2024. This decrease was due to the unstable power supply from the national grid of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the Ruashi mine, leading to a temporary suspension of the solvent extraction-electrolytic refining system in January 2025. As a result, electrolytic copper production fell, while the group utilized the flotation plant to produce more copper concentrate with higher copper content, thereby maintaining overall production levels. To address the power supply issue, the group has actively installed additional diesel generators, and the SX-EW system is expected to resume operations in mid-May 2025.
Due to the temporary suspension of the SX-EW system, the group produced 71 tons of cobalt (cobalt content in cobalt hydroxide) in the first half of 2025, a decrease of approximately 89.6% compared to 681 tons in the same period of 2024.
In the first half of 2025, the group's mining business sold 26,050 tons of copper (copper content in direct shipping ore, electrolytic copper, and copper concentrate), a slight decrease of 0.7% compared to 26,222 tons in the same period of 2024.
Due to the low cobalt production and the implementation of an export ban starting from February 2025 (currently, the export ban has been extended to September 2025), the group did not sell any cobalt in the first half of 2025, compared to 991 tons sold in the same period of 2024.
In addition, trading remains suspended
