Japanese car companies aim to attract software talent by enhancing benefits and expanding their presence
Japanese automakers Honda, Mazda, and Toyota are accelerating efforts to secure professional talent for the development of essential advanced software technologies related to electrification and autonomous driving. The competition for talent is becoming increasingly fierce across various industries, and these automakers are working to enhance their recruitment systems and expand their bases. Honda plans to invest approximately 2 trillion yen in software-related research and development over the next decade until 2030. The company will introduce a system in the 2024 fiscal year that compensates senior talent based on market conditions and provides a working environment, hiring them with different treatment than regular employees. Mazda, headquartered in Hiroshima Prefecture, opened the "Mazda Tokyo R&D Center" in June at Azabudai Hills in central Tokyo, serving as a base for collaboration with universities, companies, and research institutions in the metropolitan area. Currently, the center has about 50 staff members, and it will expand in the future
