According to Zhitong Finance APP, Apple (AAPL.US) has launched an end-to-end update of its smartwatch series for the first time in three years, adding blood pressure monitoring and satellite communication features to its high-end products, while improving its entry-level products.
On Tuesday, Apple unveiled the new generation iPhone 17 series at its product launch event, along with updates to the Apple Watch, AirPods, and other products. Apple stated that the new watches will achieve 5G connectivity through a new cellular modem. The Series 11 and Ultra series watches will be equipped with a new high blood pressure detection system and a brand new watch face design. The lower-end SE version has added health features, a faster chip, and an upgraded display.
The new Ultra 3 model also introduces a feature designed specifically for hikers: the ability to access satellite networks in areas without mobile network coverage. The iPhone 14, launched in 2022, already has this capability, and recently Garmin's competing watches have also added this feature.
Apple announced that the new watches will be available for sale on September 19 and will start accepting pre-orders on Tuesday. The price of the Ultra 3 is set at $799, the Series 11 starts at $399, and the SE starts at $249.
Apple stated that the blood pressure monitoring feature will also be available on the Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2 watches once users download the watchOS 26 operating system.
Notably, the biggest highlight of this Apple event is the first introduction of the new slim iPhone 17 Air, along with the fully upgraded iPhone 17 Pro series and the new operating system iOS 26, aimed at solidifying its leadership position in the global smartphone market through a richer product lineup. However, due to the early leak of many product details before the event, the market reaction was tepid. During the event, Apple's stock price fell, closing down 1.48%
