
Google commits to invest nearly $7 billion in the UK
Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, announced that it will invest £5 billion in the UK over the next two years. This is the latest large-scale investment commitment by the American tech giant to expand AI infrastructure and other services in Europe. The company stated that this investment will cover AI, energy supply capabilities, workforce training, research and development, and related engineering fields, creating over 8,000 jobs annually for businesses across the UK. Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, said in a statement: "With today's announcement, Google is deepening our roots in the UK and helping to support the country in harnessing the potential of AI, contributing £400 billion to the economy by 2030 while improving critical social services."
