
Waymo partners with Lyft to expand robotic taxi services in Tennessee next year, with the latter's stock price soaring 20% in pre-market trading
Alphabet (GOOG.US) subsidiary Waymo announced that it will enter into its first commercial partnership with the ride-sharing platform Lyft (LYFT.US), planning to launch a robotic taxi service in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2026. The news drove Lyft's stock price up 20% in pre-market trading on Wednesday.
According to a joint statement released by both parties on Wednesday, Nashville users will be able to hail rides through the Waymo One app, and Lyft will gradually integrate Waymo's fleet into its platform. Lyft will be responsible for vehicle management, including vehicle maintenance, infrastructure, and garage operations, providing comprehensive support for Waymo's business in the local area
