
IDC: In the first half of this year, the usage of large models on China's public cloud increased nearly four times compared to the entire last year
Recently, the report "Analysis of China's Public Cloud Service Market for Large Models, H1 2025" released by International Data Corporation (IDC) pointed out that in the first half of 2025, the number of large model calls on China's public cloud will reach 536.7 trillion Tokens. Among them, Volcano Engine holds the first position in the Chinese market with a market share of 49.2%, while Alibaba Cloud and Baidu Intelligent Cloud account for 27% and 17%, ranking second and third, respectively. It is reported that the IDC report's statistical caliber is the volume of large model public cloud services provided by major cloud vendors to external customers, excluding internal business calls. With the further enhancement of reasoning models and multimodal model capabilities, the business model for model calls is gradually maturing. IDC noted that compared to the total market size of 114 trillion Tokens for the entire year of 2024, nearly 400% growth was achieved in just the first half of 2025. IDC predicts that the market for generative AI software in China will continue to grow rapidly, and with ongoing innovations in foundational models, continuous improvement of model development application toolchains, and the explosion of intelligent agents, this market size will reach 48.24 billion yuan by 2028
