The company cited a parts shortage as the reason for the three-week pause. According to the United Auto Workers Local 2250, the shutdown will affect about 3,800 employees, although some stamping and body shop operations will continue. GM has stated that normal production is scheduled to resume on October 20, and that it is "temporarily adjusting production schedules to address supply chain issues and align with overall business needs."The facility, located roughly 40 miles west of St. Louis, also produces the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana full-size vans, both of which are likewise expected to be impacted.
