EU officials: The U.S. climate policy is "a form of suicide"
On the 23rd local time, European Commission Vice President Ribera warned that if the United States "forgets the rest of the world" and withdraws from global climate negotiations, it would be "shocking" and could even amount to "a form of suicide." Ribera added that she hopes other forces in the U.S., including business owners, mayors, and governors, can promote investment in alternative energy rather than continue to rely on fossil fuels.
On the same day, U.S. President Trump criticized renewable energy sources such as wind power as "expensive and inefficient, relying on subsidies," calling it "a scam" during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly. In January of this year, the U.S. President announced the withdrawal from the Paris Agreement again. (CCTV)
