On September 23, Minister of Natural Resources Guan Zhihou met with Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Huraif in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation in geological minerals and other fields and reached a consensus. Guan Zhihou stated that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Saudi Arabia, and the geological minerals sector is an important area of cooperation between the two countries, with preliminary cooperation projects achieving phased results. He suggested that both sides further deepen and expand geological survey cooperation, strengthen in-depth cooperation in basic geological surveys and mineral resource potential evaluations; expand cooperation in desertification prevention, green mining, seawater desalination, and other fields; establish a geological talent and technology exchange mechanism to normalize exchanges through forums, projects, academics, and training; jointly build laboratories to create a technology cooperation platform in the fields of earth and resource environment; and make good use of the two countries' mining conferences to jointly promote investment cooperation in mining, ecology, and other fields. Al-Huraif agreed with the Chinese side's suggestions and expressed hope to establish a broader cooperation space in line with Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030," expanding practical cooperation across the entire industrial chain from geological survey research to mineral resource exploration, development, and processing, as well as exchanging new technologies in geological data applications and further cooperation in seawater desalination and desertification prevention.
