Applied Materials collaborates with GlobalFoundries to advance AI and AR photonic technology

Applied Materials and GlobalFoundries announced the establishment of a new partnership to jointly promote the development of photonic technology in the field of artificial intelligence applications, particularly in the areas of augmented reality (AR) and digital experiences. The two parties will co-build a cutting-edge waveguide manufacturing facility at GlobalFoundries' Singapore base. According to the agreement, Applied Materials will be responsible for developing waveguide components, while GlobalFoundries will serve as its large-scale manufacturing partner.
