
Freeport-McMoRan report on September 8th mudslide incident resulting in 2 deaths
According to reports, Freeport-McMoRan Inc. stated that two employees unfortunately lost their lives in the mudflow incident that occurred on September 8 at the Grasberg Block Cave mine in Indonesia. Efforts are still underway to rescue five missing personnel. The incident caused approximately 800,000 tons of wet material to surge into multiple operational levels underground, and operations in the mining area have been suspended since that day. The company expects to complete the accident investigation by the end of 2025 and has lowered its third-quarter copper sales forecast by 4% and gold sales forecast by 6%
