On September 25, the European Commission announced that it has launched a formal investigation to assess whether SAP may have distorted competition in the market related to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in the European Economic Area (EEA). The ERP software authorized by SAP for managing business operations is of the on-premises type. Along with the initiation of the investigation procedure, the European Commission has outlined the main facts of the case and indicated its competition concerns through a preliminary assessment report.
