Monaco served as Deputy Attorney General for four years during the Biden administration, and Trump has long criticized Monaco, claiming she used her position to lead multiple investigations against him.
As a major provider of cloud infrastructure and productivity software to U.S. government agencies, Microsoft recently committed to offering significant discounts for cloud services to government entities.
Trump's latest remarks undoubtedly bring new uncertainty to Microsoft's vast and sensitive government business. After hours, Microsoft's stock price briefly fell over 1.2%, before rebounding slightly to a decline of about 0.2%.

Although Lisa Monaco's appointment was disclosed in June this year, a post by Fox Business Channel anchor Maria Bartiromo on social media brought the hiring event back into the public eye.
On September 26, local time, Maria Bartiromo posted:

Notably, the day before Trump posted his demand to fire Monaco, the U.S. Department of Justice had just indicted former FBI Director James Comey.
Analysts believe this clearly indicates that Trump has taken action to retaliate against those government officials he claims have wronged him.
