Federal Reserve's Harker "hawkish": Inflation outlook concerning, opposes rate cuts

Cleveland Federal Reserve President Loretta Mester stated that the inflation rate may remain above the target level until 2028, thus opposing interest rate cuts. She pointed out that the Federal Reserve has not achieved the 2% inflation target for over four years and that it may still be above the target in the next one to two years. The next Federal Reserve meeting is scheduled for October 28 to 29, with the market expecting a roughly 90% chance of an interest rate cut
