Tesla's Global Vice President Tao Lin posted on Weibo: "The carbon reduction report card from Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory is here! In 2024, through a series of energy-saving and carbon reduction projects, we will reduce carbon emissions by more than 50,000 tons, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of over 80,000 households in Shanghai, or the annual carbon emissions of more than 10,000 fuel vehicles. These achievements are thanks to several innovative technologies, such as: the wet-on-wet process in the painting workshop - which reduces the traditional baking process, saving 6.68 million kWh of electricity and 2 million cubic meters of natural gas annually; the factory energy center's waste heat recovery system - which "reuses" the waste heat from cooling water, saving 2.7 million cubic meters of natural gas per year; and the optimization of integrated die-casting equipment - which reduces carbon emissions by 3,000 tons annually."
