Microsoft expands AI computing power by renting capacity from a data center in Portugal

Microsoft (MSFT.US) will lease data center capacity from Nscale in Portugal to address the shortage of computing resources caused by the surge in demand for artificial intelligence.

According to informed sources, the project will deploy NVIDIA (NVDA.US) latest Blackwell Ultra GB300 GPU chips, located in the "Start Campus" data center park in Sines, about 150 kilometers south of Lisbon, and is expected to be operational by early 2026
