Singapore plans to establish a new agency responsible for removing harmful content from internet platforms
Singapore will establish an Internet Security Committee, which will be responsible for blocking harmful content on online platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, in order to strengthen efforts to combat online fraud and deepfakes. The Ministry of Communications and Information and the Ministry of Law of Singapore issued a joint statement stating that the Internet Security Committee can request platforms to remove harmful content after receiving reports from victims. This committee is the core content of a bill submitted to the Singapore Parliament on Wednesday, which aims to expand the scope of online harm covered by existing laws
