Ding Zhijie, Director of the Financial Research Institute of the Central Bank: China is exploring a path that combines green transformation with economic growth
The 2025 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference will be held from October 16 to 18 in the Expo Park of Huangpu District, Shanghai. Ding Zhijie, Director of the Financial Research Institute of the People's Bank of China, attended and delivered a speech. Ding Zhijie stated at the conference that China's experience is worth learning from. As a developing country, China's path to green transformation has general significance. Unlike the emission reduction models of the West, China is exploring a path that combines green transformation with economic growth, which is inseparable from institutional innovation and technological development. Emphasizing institutional construction, the green development goals are deeply embedded in national governance, incorporating environmental performance into the assessment of local governments, and introducing a series of policies and regulations to provide solid support for green technologies, industries, and markets. At the same time, we actively utilize market forces to establish a national carbon emission trading system. These efforts have yielded significant results; by the end of last year, China's installed capacity of renewable energy accounted for 35% of the global total, and energy consumption per unit of GDP has significantly decreased, achieving environmental protection while developing the economy
