As the agency responsible for reviewing Tesla vehicles and approving their sale in the European Union, the Dutch regulatory authority, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority, stated on Thursday that it will strengthen relevant rules to ensure that occupants can safely evacuate the vehicle after a collision and that emergency personnel can effectively carry out rescue operations. Previously, an investigation reported that Tesla vehicles experienced door malfunctions when the battery was disconnected, trapping drivers and passengers, and there were even cases of this issue occurring during vehicle fires. The Netherlands Vehicle Authority made this statement in this context. A spokesperson for the Netherlands Vehicle Authority pointed out in an email statement: "The doors must always remain operable, regardless of whether the power is disconnected—occupants should be able to open them from the inside, and emergency personnel should be able to open them from the outside. The relevant committee is addressing the loopholes in current regulations caused by the new door designs."
