Taiwan Semiconductor announces the commencement of construction on its second factory in Kumamoto

Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US) announced that the second factory in Kumamoto has begun construction. The factory was originally scheduled to start construction in March of this year, but was delayed due to local traffic congestion and other issues.

Taiwan Semiconductor Chairman Wei Zhejia stated that the production situation of the first factory in Kumamoto, which began mass production in December last year, is going smoothly. The start of mass production for the second factory will be determined based on customer demand and market conditions. If there are not many orders, the start of mass production may be delayed
