Foreign media: American internet application services collectively went offline

According to foreign media reports, on Monday afternoon Beijing time, a large number of American internet applications collectively experienced outages almost simultaneously. The latest news indicates that the source of the failure is Amazon AWS, the global cloud computing leader.

The internet service monitoring website Downdetector shows that hundreds of American websites and applications were impacted by this incident. The major platforms and services confirmed to have experienced failures include:

Amazon's own websites: Amazon e-commerce portal, Alexa voice assistant, Amazon Prime Video;

Financial and streaming services: Robinhood, Coinbase, Venmo under PayPal, Chime, Disney+, Apple TV;

Social media: Snapchat, Reddit;

Games: Roblox, Fortnite, Steam, PlayStation Network, Xbox, Ubisoft;

Others: McDonald's, WSJ, Perplexity, Duolingo.

Analysis indicates that this reflects the inherent risks of highly concentrated internet infrastructure
