The UK strengthens regulation of Apple and Google's mobile business
The UK government has announced that it designates the smartphone businesses of Apple and Google as "strategic market positions," granting regulators the power to require specific adjustments to promote market competition. The UK Competition and Markets Authority stated that the rules of Apple and Google's mobile platforms may limit innovation and competition. In response, Google expressed that the UK Competition and Markets Authority's actions are "disappointing, disproportionate, and unfounded."
