Amazon tests AR smart glasses to help delivery drivers speed up delivery

The world's largest online retailer Amazon (AMZN.US) announced on Wednesday that it is testing an augmented reality (AR) glasses in North America to help delivery drivers more accurately locate delivery points.

Amazon stated that it is currently conducting trials with contract drivers. The smart delivery glasses are equipped with lenses that automatically activate when the driver parks, providing step-by-step navigation to guide the driver to the correct door.

Amazon mentioned that drivers currently rely mainly on smartphone applications for navigation. The hope is that future versions will be able to automatically detect whether packages have been dropped off, be aware of dogs in the yard, or identify if the house number matches the package address to enhance delivery safety and efficiency
