Starting in 2029, South Korea will mandate the installation of devices to prevent unintended acceleration in vehicles

The South Korean Ministry of Transport announced on Thursday that starting in 2029, new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in South Korea will be required to be equipped with systems to prevent pedal misapplication, in order to reduce accidents caused by unintended acceleration. The goal is to expand the scope to trucks, vans, and special vehicles under 3.5 tons starting January 2030
