On October 16, Deputy Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping met with Dan Bartlett, Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs at Walmart. The two sides exchanged views on topics such as the development of U.S. retail enterprises in China against the backdrop of current Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations. Sheng Qiuping stated that multinational companies play an important role in bilateral economic and trade cooperation and also bear significant responsibilities. Walmart is one of the largest foreign retail enterprises in China and the largest retail enterprise in the United States. He hopes that Walmart will actively leverage the international influence of multinational companies, respect market laws, uphold market rules, and expand procurement in China.
