On October 27th, Meituan announced through its official WeChat account that the rider pension insurance subsidy has officially covered the entire country. It is understood that this is the industry's first social security subsidy plan open to all riders.
This development is also two months ahead of the previously announced launch date by Meituan. According to Meituan's official WeChat, starting in November, all types of riders can check the details on the rider app and at local social security consultation points.
Currently, Meituan has initially established a multi-level welfare protection network covering all riders. The basic protection includes pension insurance subsidies, &#34;rider work injury insurance,&#34; accidental injury insurance, special weather subsidies, etc.; the advanced protection includes major illness care protection covering riders and their families, children's education funds, etc.; at the same time, it also provides work benefits such as work meals, health check-ups, women's care, family travel, and vocational training.
Meituan stated that the aforementioned welfare benefits are open to all types of riders nationwide, with an estimated total coverage exceeding several million.
The head of Meituan's rider protection team introduced that since February of this year, with the support and guidance of local human resources and social security departments, Meituan's rider social security subsidy city promotion team has conducted over 10,000 Q&amp;A activities in offline venues such as social security centers, union stations, rider stations, and street consultation service points, providing policy interpretation and operational guidance for riders.

Previously, many local human resources and social security departments have opened dedicated service channels for riders, making it convenient for them to handle insurance payment matters while on the job. For example, in pilot cities, the Quanzhou human resources and social security department has opened a dedicated window for Meituan riders, providing &#34;one-on-one&#34; services; the Nantong human resources and social security bureau's social security center held a pension insurance policy promotion meeting in collaboration with Meituan, offering one-stop services such as &#34;policy explanation + on-site Q&amp;A + mobile insurance handling&#34;; many local human resources and social security bureaus have also set up &#34;social security service corners&#34; at rider stations.
From the pilot of &#34;work injury insurance&#34; for delivery riders to the nationwide implementation of pension insurance subsidies, Meituan continues to strengthen the protection of new employment form workers.
It is reported that under the guidance of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Meituan began participating in the &#34;new employment form occupational injury protection&#34; pilot in July 2022, expanding to 17 provinces and cities this year, providing delivery riders with &#34;work injury insurance.&#34; As of the end of September this year, Meituan has paid over 2 billion, covering a total of 13 million riders. In 2024, based on the exploration of the &#34;work injury insurance&#34; pilot, Meituan has formulated a rider pension insurance plan and will improve the plan details under the guidance of the competent authorities, with a pilot launch planned for early 2025. On July 17th, during the Rider Festival, Meituan announced that it would be implemented nationwide within the year, covering over one million riders.
&#34;Over 400 yuan a month, that's 5,000 yuan a year, which alleviates a lot of living pressure.&#34; Qiu Fengying, a rider from Changsha and a mother of three, has been a rider for eight years and has settled down in Changsha after buying a house. After the Meituan pension insurance subsidy was implemented in Changsha in July, she quickly received a subsidy of over 400 yuan
47-year-old Tang Weihong has the same feeling; after receiving the subsidy, he immediately recommended it to his colleagues. &#34;This policy is good; for someone like me who insists on paying social insurance, it's equivalent to a monthly salary increase of 500 yuan.&#34;
Riders from various places such as Guangzhou in Guangdong and Harbin in Heilongjiang calculated that over a year, they could receive more than 6,000 yuan in subsidies.

The person in charge of the welfare protection business for Meituan riders stated that Meituan continuously improves various details in the implementation of the social insurance plan, such as coordinating with social insurance departments to shorten the process for riders to receive subsidies. Riders who pay at the end of the month can receive their subsidy as early as the first week of the following month; the customer service team has opened a dedicated hotline and intelligent customer service for riders' social insurance, providing 24/7 consultation services.
&#34;In the future, we will further deepen the welfare protection model of 'basic protection + advanced protection + living benefits' for riders,&#34; Meituan stated, adding that pilot programs for riders' &#34;parent-child leave&#34; and &#34;autumn harvest leave&#34; will be launched successively, and subsidies for dining and family travel will continue to expand
