
Google announces the restart of a nuclear power plant to supply power for AI infrastructure
On the 27th, Google LLC announced a plan to restart a nuclear power plant in Iowa to power its artificial intelligence infrastructure. This indicates that the American tech giant is broadening its energy supply channels for AI infrastructure. According to a press release jointly issued by Google and New Era Energy, the Duane Arnold Energy Center, which was closed in 2020, will be back in operation by 2029 "to help meet Google's growing power demands for cloud and AI infrastructure in Iowa." The two parties have signed a 25-year power purchase agreement.
