Cook avoids the issue of iPhone Air production cuts, implying that the model has not met Apple's expectations
Tech media Appleinsider published a blog today, reporting that during the Q4 fiscal year 2025 conference call, Apple CEO Tim Cook avoided analysts' direct questions regarding the sales of the iPhone Air. During the call, an analyst inquired about the recent online reports of "iPhone Air production cuts," to which Cook only responded by saying, "the company does not disclose sales figures for individual models." According to previous reports, there are currently conflicting industry messages regarding the iPhone Air production cuts. On one hand, sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo have revealed that Apple has begun to reduce iPhone Air production capacity, with supply chain capacity expected to decrease by over 80% by Q1 2026. On the other hand, the American multinational investment bank and financial services firm TD Cowen refuted this claim, insisting that its production forecasts for the third and fourth quarters of 2025 remain unchanged. Cook's silence reflects Apple's core strategy in recent years: to enhance overall profit margins through high-end hardware and services. Apple stopped disclosing specific sales figures for the iPhone several years ago, and its strategy has always focused on overall performance rather than highlighting individual products, forcing analysts to piece together the full picture through supply chain news, market research, and sporadic leaks
