Fermi has obtained preliminary approval for a gas-fired power plant, which will supply power to AI
Fermi Inc., an energy real estate investment trust (REIT) based in Amarillo, Texas, has received preliminary approval to construct the first phase of its low-emission natural gas power plant for its artificial intelligence (AI) campus. The company, co-founded by former U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, plans to ultimately install 11 gigawatts of power capacity to supply its Matador campus, which will include four conventional nuclear reactors. Fermi aims to provide up to 11 gigawatts of power to the on-site data center by 2038 by combining natural gas, solar energy, and nuclear power
