
Disney plans to introduce ESPN to Asia to expand its sports streaming business
Disney (DIS.US) plans to introduce its sports brand ESPN to the Asian market. Disney's Asia-Pacific President, Jiang Lingke, stated on Wednesday that the company is preparing to add more live sports content to the Disney+ platform and will launch ESPN in different Asian markets in phases, with specific timing depending on local sports rights and audience base.
Earlier this year, Disney had already launched ESPN on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand. Jiang Lingke mentioned that the long-term goal is to fully integrate ESPN into Disney+ and make it the preferred platform for sports content in Asia
