Boeing's defense division workers over 3,000 vote on new contract, potentially ending over three months of strike
About 3,200 Boeing (BA.US) defense department workers voted on a new contract on Thursday, which is expected to end a strike that has lasted for more than three months. The strike has caused production delays for Boeing's F-15 fighter jets and other defense projects.
The union had previously rejected the company's proposals multiple times, stating that the plans did not address workers' concerns. The latest contract draft includes a 24% pay increase over five years and offers a signing bonus of $6,000, an increase from the earlier proposed $3,000, but eliminates the previously proposed $4,000 installment bonus.
The strike mainly involves workers at the defense plant in St. Louis, Missouri, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 837, and has been ongoing since August 4, marking the first strike since 1996
